Today marks the seventh day of my ongoing 30-day juice fast. This journey is not just about abstaining from solid foods but also about tuning in to my body's needs and responses. Here’s a glimpse of how I navigate my days during this period.
Morning Routine
My day begins with an oral care routine followed by a workout session that includes basic exercises using body weight. I've found that starting my day with physical activity sets a positive tone for the rest of the day. Post-workout, I indulge in a cold shower which invigorates me and helps in muscle recovery.
Fasting and Contemplation
I typically delay breakfast for about 2 to 3 hours after waking up. This delay isn't arbitrary; it's a deliberate choice to spend my initial moments in contemplation and breath work. This practice helps me understand my body's true signals for hunger rather than eating out of habit or schedule.
Adjustments and Energy Conservation
On busier days, like today, I skip more strenuous activities such as running up the stairs or taking long walks outdoors. Conserving energy is crucial when your caloric intake is primarily liquid. It’s important to listen to your body and adjust activities accordingly to maintain balance throughout the day.
Nutrition Intake
The cornerstone of this fast is, undoubtedly, the green juice. While not particularly palatable due to its strong vegetable taste, it's packed with essential nutrients and minerals. Interestingly, consuming this juice diminishes my usual food cravings significantly. During this fast, I’ve opted out of any supplements or herbs, relying solely on the natural goodness of leafy greens.
Juice Preparation Techniques
Preparation varies based on my schedule. On hectic days, I prepare juice overnight; otherwise, I make it fresh throughout the day as fresh juice has a different essence altogether. To ensure longevity without compromising quality, I use a vacuum sealer for the juice that I don’t consume immediately.
Daily Reflections and Adjustments
Despite being physically active and maintaining dietary discipline, there are areas where I feel improvements are needed—particularly meditation and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule. Meditation during this fast has taught me that it doesn't always require specific postures; being present at the moment is equally beneficial.
Reducing time spent on social media has also been part of this journey; it’s liberating and helps maintain mental clarity.
Conclusion
today was productive yet reflective; consuming around 90% of my nutritional intake through juices while managing three bowel movements indicates that my body is responding well to this regimen so far. As each day passes, I’m learning more about what works best for me in terms of diet, physical activity, and mental health practices during this fasting period.
